14th of March, 2009 – Peace

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God because we have not been given the spirit of bondage again to fear, but the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba, Father (Romans 8v15). Praise the Lord. The Bible says in John 14v27:

“Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourself to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” John 14v27 (Amplified Version)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14v27 (King James Version)

Imagine you wake up in the middle of the night, and everyone else in the house has gone to bed. You realize that you have a bit of a deadline to meet, something to hand in, in less than an hour. You might get a bit agitated – will I make it in time, why did I go to sleep for this long, oh no, oh this, oh that. You also realize that you are quite thirsty, but you remember something your brother told you that when he went downstairs at night once, the dog outside the house barked at him, and you still have your deadline to meet. So you begin to feel a bit disturbed, and unsettled. Now while this might seem like a small situation, project it into other things in your life – a phone call from your boss or teacher when you have not finished an assignment that was given, an exam which you don’t think you have studied enough for, a serious talk with your parents about your next steps in life e.g. job, marriage e.t.c., … anything.

Many times we let ourselves become agitated, disturbed, fearful, intimidated, cowardly and unsettled. Jesus is saying – stop. Don’t permit it. Just as we know that we have the Holy Spirit here dwelling with us, and in us, (John 14v17) and He is our Helper, our Teacher, our Advocate, our Intercessor, and we rely and trust in Him to be that, so also He is saying that I have given you this gift called My peace. How does His peace look? It is certainly not the sort that makes Him bold one moment, and cowardly the next; or settled one moment and unsettled the next. It is such that enables one to sleep in the midst of the storm, when others are frightened and trembling that they might perish. And it is such that enables you to slip out (not shaking ) in the midst of those who want you dead.

Activate it. How? Don’t let your heart become agitated, disturbed, fearful, intimidated, cowardly and unsettled – through things you feel, see, hear, speak peace to yourself. Another way is through prayer (you believe it is yours) and say –

Father, I thank You for Your peace, Your peace which passeth all understanding. I thank You for the peace You have given me, which is not as the world giveth. I accept Your peace O God. I live in perpetual peace. My heart you shall not be and are not permitted to be agitated, disturbed, fearful, cowardly, intimidated and unsettled. I have peace from God, in Jesus name I pray, amen. Thank You for Your peace O Lord. Thank You Jesus for giving me Your peace.

15th of March, 2009 – Peace (2)

15th of March, 2009 – Peace (2)

Many a times, if we are rest assured that God is fine with us, then we are settled, we are at peace. If we have the confident assurance that God is backing us up, has got our back, and is handling our case, then we are at peace. The devil wants to keep us from being at peace, by making us feel bad about things, having some self-imposed guilt, and being apart from our Father God. God on the other hand wants us to come unto Him if we are weary and heavy laden and He will give us rest (). One verse I especially like is from Psalm 62v8 which says – “Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us.”

Have you ever poured out your heart before someone? You told them how you really felt. What was going through your mind, how you said this, and you felt bad, and someone else said that, and you thought how could you, and you come out of that conversation feeling as if, wow, it was good to tell you how I really felt. It was good to tell you what was on my mind, on my heart. That is how God wants us to be with Him, and that is what the devil wants to prevent from happening. The Bible says in Philippians 4v6-7 that:

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4v6-7 (Amplified Version).

Hallelujah. Are you troubled, anxious, fretting, disturbed, unsettled, feeling intimidated, or agitated about something. Don’t be. Take it to God in prayer. Tell Him about it. Pour out your heart to Him. Make definite requests. Let Him know your wants, and don’t ever forget to thank Him. And then His peace will come and shall GARRISON and MOUNT GUARD over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Father Lord,
We just want to thank You for being such an awesome God. Father we thank You so much for giving us bold access to the throne of grace. We thank You for this wonderful provision of perpetual, uninterrupted peace, as we continue to make our wants known to You, and come to You in prayer. We truly are grateful and just want to say that indeed, there is no God like You. Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit of God, in Jesus mighty name we pray with thanksgiving, amen.

December 3, 2007 - How Far is Too Far

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well. Jesus said in John 15v13:
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

This message is re-iterated in 1 John 3v16:
"Hereby pereceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."

One might ask, how far is too far - how much love is too much. No greater love ...

Have a blessed day.

Sunday, Dec 2, 2007 - AND THE COMMANDMENT IS...

"This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." John 15v12

And this is not the love that says I love you today, and sorry - not anymore. Instead it is love that will say:
I will suffer long towards you, I will be kind to you, I will not envy you, I will not vaunt myself before you, I will not be puffed up towards you, I will not behave myself unseemly towards you, I will not seek my own before yours, I will not be easily provoked by you, I will think no evil towards you, I will not rejoice in iniquity in you but I will rejoice in the truth in you, I will bear all things for you, I will believe all things you say, I will hope all things for you, and I will endure all things from you. This my love for you, will never fail.

The interesting thing is that this love that Jesus said to have for one another, is not just for husband or wife ... it is for one another.

Have a blessed day.

Father Lord, You gave Jesus because You love us. Lord Jesus You gave Your life because You love us. Holy Spirit You are here with us out of love for us. Lord God Almighty, help us to learn from Your example and to love one another, even as You loved us, in Jesus name, amen.

Saturday, December 1, 2007 - Joy

"These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." John 15v11

have you ever sat down and wondered - oh, what cause do I have to give thanks today? oh, what cause do I have to be joyful today. Well a couple of reasons:
1. Jesus is in our Father's house, preparing a place for us
2. Why? So that where He is, we also might be
3. He has asked that we believe in Him, even as we believe in God
4. He asked us not to let our hearts be troubled
5. He wants us with Him - why else would He be preparing a place for us
6. And where HE went, we know
7. We are on the right path - for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life
8. Our going through Him, guarantees us access to the Father
9. If you are keeping His commandments, shows that you love Him
10. He has asked for the Comforter to be here with us.

Need we say more...

Be at peace and have a restful weekend

Friday, November 30th, 2007 - Still on Abiding

Wow,
It is the last day of November, 2007. Super wow. A word for thought on abiding:

"If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love." John 15v10

Have a blessed day, and be at peace.

Verse for thought:
"He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform." Romans `5v20&21

Thursday, November 29th, 2007 - Ain't no one able to refute it

When I was younger, I read a book called Streiker. There were two of them, Streiker ... and Streiker the Kildeer. In the initial book, Streiker is this multi millionaire person, who picks for his bride a young lady, who was a secretary, to be his bride. She was of a humble background. In the second, Streiker is suddenly shot down on a plane, she has no way of reaching him for a while, and a package which he had asked her to pick up for him, just happened to be a child! What a challenge. It was a real test of her love for him, trusting his character and things he had revealed to her during the brief time they were together.

"As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love." John 15v9

Today's daily encouragement is just to encourage you that regardless of what you see, what you don't see, continue in Jesus' love. Believe His words to you, believe He who has promised to never leave us comfortless, but will come to us. Believe, believe, believe, ... and continue ye in His love.

Streiker did come back, and things were made clearer for his new bride. The child, had been taught to fear Streiker, and his new bride was the one who helped to bridge the gap between father and son. Sound familiar?
