Sunday, October 7, 2007 - Three secrets from Matthew 7

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? Hope well. Happy Sunday. In Matthew 6, we see three things which Jesus said to be done in secret. These are in terms of giving of alms, praying and then fasting. Almost as though to question oneself as to whom you are doing these things - to men, to gain their approval, or unto the Most High God, our Father in Heaven who seeth in secret.

Matthew 6v4 says:
"That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly."

Again Matthew 6v6 says:
"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seest in secret shall reward thee openly."

And finally Matthew 6v18 says:
"That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."

Have a blessed day.

--
Our dearest Father in Heaven,
We thank You so much for this day which You have made, that we can rejoice and be glad in. We thank You for all that You do and are doing and are yet to do. We bless You for who You are and with praise and thanksgiving, come before Your throne of grace today. We thank You because You see in secret when we give alms, when we pray, when we fast. Lord God Almighty, may our motives in doing these things always be pure, as unto You and not unto any man in the name of Jesus. May all that we do in prayer, in fasting and in giving of alms glorify Your name and Your name alone. Father Lord You are worthy of all praise, and all glory and all honour and we ascribe all to You this day. Thank You Father, thank You Son, thank You Holy Spirit of God. Lord of the harvest, we pray again that You send forth labourers into Your harvest, for the harvest indeed is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Lord God Almighty, please have Your way in our lives and let Your will be done in our lives, even now and evermore, in Jesus mighty name we pray with thanksgiving, amen.

Saturday, October 06, 2007 – And we know He answers

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? Hope well. One of the amazing things about God is that He answers prayers. He always hears, and He answers, even as we pray according to His will which He has made known to us, through His Word. He does not forget things we pray to Him about, even when we do. So remain blessed and praying and God bless you real good.

“And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us:

And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” 1 John 5v14&15 (KJV)

“And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.” 1 John 4v14&15 (Amplified Bible)

--
And Father we just bless You for this confidence that we have in You. Thank You for always hearing and always answering our prayers even as we ask according to Your will. Thank You Father, thank You Son, thank You Holy Spirit of God, in Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.

Friday, 5th of October, 2007 – His Counsel

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well. Let us imagine a scenario, where you are the leader of a group of people. They look to you for decisions, to lead them, to guide them, possibly for food, clothing, where to live, e.t.c. Imagine, you had led them to go and help an army to fight (let’s say the Philistines), but these people, doubtful of your integrity, reject your offer to help. So you and your people decide to go back home, and you get home and find that in your absence, great great destruction had happened – town is burned with fire, and family taken captive. Oh no. This was the situation David was in.

“So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.”

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30v3-6 (KJV)

One thing that has stuck with me through time, is just the phrase – encouraged himself in the LORD. For us, there may be times when we are in situations where the whole world around you, seems against you. You may all be in the same boat, or the same situation, but then the added blame is put on you perhaps as the leader or someone who is looked up to. But encourage yourself in the Lord your God. Now, the people here did not consider the fact that David had also lost his own family. Nope. They were grieved, distressed and for that point in time, David was the culprit.

It could be in your place of work, in church or your local fellowship, among a group of friends and you just feel you are under attack just a little bit more compared to those surrounding you – encourage yourself in the Lord. He is faithful and He will fight for you to bring that situation under control.

Be encouraged and have a blessed day.

Our dearest Heavenly Father,
We thank You so much for today. We thank You for Your goodness, for Your faithfulness, we bless You because You are an unchanging Changer. You are our Father, our Father who loves us and Daddy, we encourage ourselves in You this day – trusting in Your awesome power, trusting and keeping ourselves in Your love for us. Thanking You because You never fail us, no not at all, and You never forsake us, no, never ever. How great You are. You have never lost a battle. You are great and mighty. You know our uprisings and our downsittings, You understand our thoughts afar off. How great Thou art. We lift You up high, high, high. You are an awesome wonder. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore. Thank You for bringing the situation under control. Hallelujah. Thank You Father, thank You Son, thank You Holy Spirit of God, in Jesus mighty name we pray with thanksgiving, amen. Again we pray O Lord of the Harvest, that You send forth labourers into Your harvest, for the harvest indeed is plenteous, but the labourers are few. We ask all these things in Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.

Thursday, 4th of October 2007 – On Instruction

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well. The Word of God tells us that wisdom is the principal thing and that we should get it. Sometimes, going through the book of Proverbs, I wonder what the words of wisdom were (smile). But now I have begun to see them. One of such is on instruction. The Bible says in Proverbs 4v13 that we should:

“Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.” (King James Version)

“Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.” (New Living Translation)

“Take firm hold of instruction, do not let her go; guard her, for she is your life.” (Amplified Bible)

The Bible reminds us to:

“HEAR, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding;” Proverbs 4v1

Heed to your father’s instructions … and heed to God the Father’s instructions too. We see in Hebrews 12v5&6:

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him:

For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.”

Have a very wonderful day.

--
Our dearest Heavenly Father,
We thank You so much for today. We thank You for Your goodness, for who You are to us. For being Someone who is kind and understanding and whom we can pour out our hearts before. We thank You because You know us even more than we know ourselves and You care for us immensely. We thank You for Your Word which You have given to us. We bless and appreciate You for everything our Lord and our God. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore. Father we thank You for instruction, for guidance, for counsel, from those who love You who You have put around us – our fathers, our family. We thank You most especially for Your counsel and advice and chastisement. We appreciate You o Lord. Father have Your way in our lives and let all that we do in word and thought and deed always always give glory to Your holy name. Father, for as many as do not know You, we pray that You draw them to You and let Your name be glorified. Thank You Father, thank You Son, thank You Holy Spirit, in Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007 – On the will of God

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well. Here in Boston, MN, seems like fall is slowly coming in, but it is well. Hmmm, the will of God is something very very very important – God, what do You want done in this situation or that. Jesus said He did the will of His Father in heaven. We see certain verses in the New Testament along these lines:

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12v2

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” Colossians 1v9

“Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself:” Ephesians 1v9

--
Our dearest Heavenly Father,
We thank You so much for today. We thank You for Your lovingkindness, for Your goodness, for the hope we have in You, and for the strength to face each day. We love You and appreciate You dear Lord. We bless You Jesus and we adore You Holy Spirit of God. Father, whilst we pray often that Your will be done in our lives, today Lord, we want to thank You for having made known unto us the mystery of Your will. We pray Lord that we be not conformed to this world, but that we will be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We pray too and desire that we might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Lord of the harvest, Abba Father, we pray too that You send forth Your labourers into Your harvest, for the harvest indeed is plenteous, but the labourers are few. We thank You Father, we thank You Jesus, we thank You Holy Spirit of God, for hearing us and answering us, even as we have prayed according to Your will, in Jesus name, amen.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 – Who He is

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well. A word to think about as we go about our day today:

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians 1v25 (NKJV)

Have a blessed day.

--
And Father we bless You because Your foolishness is wiser than men, and Your weakness is stronger than men. How great Thou art.

Monday, October 1st, 2007 – Pleasing Him

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this wonderful Nigeria’s independence day? Yup, its already October 1, 2007 – it was not too long ago that people were doing New Year resolutions. One of the prayers that quite struck me over these past few days, is one from Colossians 1v10, where Paul is praying for believers in the church in Colosse, and he prays …

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;”

Isn’t it wonderful if the Lord is saying of us all the time that ah, this My daughter, or this My son, is just pleasing Me all the time, that the way he or she walks, is indeed worthy of the child of the Most High. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we were fruitful in every good work i.e. not that we are just doing good works, but we are also fruitful in them? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we just keep increasing in the knowledge of God –

And so today, even as Paul prayed o so long ago, we also pray that Father, may we walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, to the glory of God, in Jesus name, amen.

- May we make this a daily prayer.
